Medical college to occupy space in Chandler innovations center

A space of 7,137 square feet in Chandler's Innovations Technology Incubator will be occupied by cutting-edge researchers from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in partnership with Arizona State University.

The focus will be on nanobiology and nanomedicine, said the medical school's dean, Dr. Stuart Flynn.

Announcing the International Workshop on Nanomedicine at NanoSpain (Nanowerk News) In March 2010, the 7th NanoSpain conference, an annual event, will be held in Malaga. The event has been created by the Spanish Nanotechnology Network in collaboration with the Portuguese Nanotechnology Network and the French C'Nano GSO Network, with the aim of facilitating the dissemination of knowledge and promote interdisciplinary discussions on the field of Nanotechnology. NanoSpain2010 will take place in the Malaga Congress Center (Malaga, Spain), March 23-26, 2010.

Nanomedicine expert discusses nanotechnology's role in the fight against cancer (Nanowerk News) Mauro Ferrari, Ph.D., explains how advanced nanotech-based therapeutic agents possess characteristics that can effectively exploit the unique mechanical properties of cancer lesions and treat the various forms of the disease locally. According to Ferrari, professor and chairman of the Department of Nanomedicine and Biomedical Engineering at The University of Texas Health Science Center, some engineered nano-particles have demonstrated the capability to deliver drugs only to areas affected by disease, in the process protecting healthy cells and reducing debilitating side effects.
